Wild and Wonderful College of Media Program
The WVU Reed College of Media has partnered with the Adventure WV program at WVU to offer a unique summer orientation program designed for first-year journalism and strategic communications students.
The program offers participants diverse experiences and opportunities to learn about themselves, future classmates, the College of Media, WVU and the state of West Virginia – while creating long-lasting connections with upperclassmen and faculty.
During the summer program, participants travel throughout the state of West Virginia to learn more about the problems and issues affecting West Virginia residents and to better understand the role that news organizations play in covering small communities. As aspiring journalists and strategic communicators, students need to learn about diversity and inclusiveness, and the Adventure WV: College of Media program provides a great start.
In the fall semester, participants enroll in a special orientation course for Adventure WV: College of Media students. Using photos, audio and video captured during the summer program, students produce multimedia projects documenting their Adventure WV experiences. Upon successful completion of the program, students earn three credit hours.
Specific details and registration information for upcoming Adventure WV: College of Media programs are available on the WVU Adventure WV website.
Questions about the program should be directed to the College’s Assistant Dean for Student Services, Oliver Street, at (304) 293-5874 or Oliver.Street@mail.wvu.edu.
