Consumer insights researcher brings network television experience to WVU IMC program

Link, director of research and consumer insights at Scripps Networks Interactive, currently leads “voice of the viewer” projects on brand health, audience segmentation, program development and new business development across SNI’s portfolio of networks, including HGTV, DIY Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel and Travel Channel. Link will join the IMC program faculty and teach the Audience Insight course beginning in January 2016.

According to Link, brands only succeed in today’s marketplace when they can make smart decisions based on a penetrating and discerning understanding of the consumer – a lesson she wants to share with IMC students.

“I have studied what makes consumers tick and translated that for decision-makers for 15 years,” said Link. “My goal is to help students discover the researcher within them and ultimately present consumer insight in a way that unlocks opportunities for companies and brands.”

American Pain named a New York Post Favorite Book of 2015

Temple says it’s important to have a public conversation about painkillers because so many West Virginians have been affected by prescription drug abuse. “There’s not a person in Appalachia who hasn’t been affected by the painkiller epidemic in some way,” said Temple. “I’m hoping this event and my book will help educate the public about the deadly effects of opioids. Just because these drugs are prescribed by a doctor doesn’t mean they’re safe.”

WVU Eberly College seeks communications specialist

The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is seeking a communication specialist to work in the College’s Communications and Marketing Office. This position is required to perform a wide range of duties including the execution of a high-level integrated marketing communications plan to a variety of audiences and constituents. As a key member of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences Communications Office, the incumbent will be responsible for helping to identify, shape, and manage the development of high-quality content for the College’s news, recruiting, and fundraising efforts, including online content, press releases, social media, collateral publications, associated websites and other appropriate communication vehicles.

The employee will promote key College initiatives and programs, respond to requests for information, gather and interpret information, gain media exposure and help deal with any crisis issues. This position is also responsible for helping create communications strategies, messages, developing copy and providing communications counsel to faculty and administrators in assigned areas for the purpose of enhancing the College’s reputation.
