Fall 2013 'WVU News' team announced

In 2011, “WVU News” was recognized by the Broadcast Education Association as the best student-produced newscast in the country. The television newscasts are produced by journalism students at the WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism. “WVU News” reporters cover events on the university campus, as well as the Morgantown community. Students report, write, shoot and edit television news stories for the program. They also serve as on-air anchors, producers, directors and technical crew during newscast tapings at WVU’s professional television studio.

“WVU News” airs statewide on West Virginia Public Television and on Time Warner Cable in North Central West Virginia.The award-winning program provides students with hands-on experience and access to professional, state-of-the-art digital equipment. Students who enroll in the “WVU News” course are well prepared for careers in television journalism after they graduate.

Vantage New Media in Key West, Fla., seeks intern

Vantage New Media (VNM) is a mass media company with constituent parts that include television production, publishing, live event management, web development, and a fully integrated products and services marketing platform.

The internship allows students to participate in the full pre-production to post process of a segment in a Nationwide Reality Television Program about the making of College Swimsuit Calendars.

Interns will be expected to have full involvement in the casting process, location scouting, and in developing mutually beneficial relationships with local sponsors.

Pressgrove joins WVU journalism faculty

Pressgrove says the School’s focus on media innovation, service learning and dedication to rural communities is what attracted her to the position. The School’s commitment to non-profit public relations also supports her research goals, and she plans to develop a course in nonprofit public relations in the coming year.

Her research interests include nonprofit advocacy, strategic communications, risk and crisis communication, social media and emergent technologies, and integrated marketing communications.

“I feel like my research goals align perfectly with what’s happening here at the School of Journalism,” said Pressgrove. “It’s a great fit, and I’m already enjoying working with the faculty and students at WVU.”

PRSSA meeting times announced

PRSSA will hold meetings every Monday at 5 p.m. in Martin Hall 205.

This position will provide system-wide leadership to support, empower, and advance the innovative and evolving use of communication technology to facilitate the implementation of system-wide information technology efforts to faculty, staff, and students as well as external audiences. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, the Director of IT Communications will provide overall leadership and direction for internal and external communications across IT units that directly and indirectly report to the CIO. The Director will design, plan, implement and execute a strategic communication vision coupled to the needs of the Chief Information Officer, Executive IT Leadership Team, and the other distributed campus information technology groups. The Director will develop, manage, and leverage processes, relationships, and interactions between various campus information technology groups to manage crisis situations and improve the visibility of technology projects and services on campus ‎through marketing communications and other outreach activities.

Adventure WV seeks student staff

Adventure WV is seeking student Trip Leaders and Logistics Specialists for itsSummer 2014 Orientation Trips season. Trip Leaders work on and off campus with incoming students, facilitating activities such as rock climbing, backpacking, whitewater rafting, service, and challenge course. Logistics Specialists work on campus, managing the organizational components of orientation trips. Staff members do not have to have participated on an orientation trip as a freshman. The program seeks individuals with sound decision making abilities and exemplary teaching and leadership skills. Adventure WV provides the necessary leadership and technical training through a 3-credit Spring semester course.
