IMC students' work provides insight for American Red Cross

The Integrated Marketing Communications program at West Virginia University P.I. Reed School of Journalism has partnered with the American Red Cross, giving students the opportunity to research and design integrated campaigns that address real-world concerns.

Through the Red Cross partnership, students taking the capstone course produced integrated marketing campaigns designed to encourage 18- to 24-year-olds to donate blood.

Peggy Dyer, chief marketing officer for the Red Cross, said she appreciated IMC students’ unique outlooks on the target market.

Voting begins for 2nd Annual Golden Quill Teaching Awards

The WVU P.I. Reed School of Journalism has opened voting for the 2nd Annual Golden Quill Teaching Awards. The purpose of the awards is to reward outstanding teaching, mentoring, and advising in the School of Journalism. The awards are based solely on student nominations. This is YOUR chance to recognize a teacher who has had a positive impact on your education in the School of Journalism.

Two awards are given each year:

Thanks to your votes, last year’s winners were Professor George Esper (faculty award) and Jan Boyles (instructor award)! Because they won in 2009, they are not eligible for this year’s awards. Therefore, their names are not listed on the nomination forms.

SOJ study abroad information fair April 13

The School of Journalism will host its annual study abroad information fair on April 13, 2:30 p.m. in 205 Martin Hall. Student and faculty presenters will outline global academic opportunities, including travels to: Ireland, England, Peru, Africa, China, Italy, Greece, France, Fiji, Patagonia and Hong Kong—among others. Apply for the National Press Club/Dennis Feldman Fellowship for graduate students in journalism

The National Press Club, an organization of reporters and newsmakers in Washington, D.C is proud to offer a Fellowship for graduate students in Journalism. The fellowship is named for Dennis Feldman, a club member who had a long career as a journalist and public relations adviser after putting himself through grad school at night.

Winners will receive a one-time stipend of $5,000 to help defray post-graduate tuition costs.
