Alison Bass
Alison Bass joined the WVU Reed College of Media in the summer of 2012. She teaches reporting, writing courses, and multimedia journalism.

Bass is an award-winning journalist and critically acclaimed author. Her book, “Side Effects: A Prosecutor, a Whistleblower and a Bestselling Antidepressant on Trial,” won the national Association of Science Writers’ Science in Society Award in 2009. In addition, Bass was a long-time medical and science writer for The Boston Globe. Bass’s work has appeared in such publications as The Chicago Tribune and Psychology Today.

Before coming to WVU, Bass taught journalism at Mount Holyoke College, Brandeis University and Boston University.

Bass received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University and her Master of Liberal Arts degree from Harvard University Extension School.
